We had the pleasure last week to visit ‘Wanuskewin Heritage Park’ (near Saskatoon, SK, Canada) to walk some of the trails and learn more about the indigenous wisdoms of Canada as part of our Spirited-Travellers World Tour.
The word Wanuskewin comes from the Cree word meaning ‘seeking peace of mind’ and ‘living in harmony’. People have been gathering at Wanuskewin for the past 6,000 to 8,000 years… so it was with humbled gratitude that we had an opportunity to walk the land and tune into the wisdoms of the Ancient Ancestors.
We walked the ‘Circle of Harmony’ trail and the ‘Path of the People Trails’. We embraced the energy of a stone Medicine Wheel & stone Tipi rings that were thousands of years old and felt the message of HEALING & UNITY in the artwork on display in the main information centre.
During our walk, our intention was to release into Opimihaw Creek one of our Blessed Earth Crystals. However upon walking on this sacred land we instead felt guided to each collect a Stone that individually spoke to us and form a human Medicine Wheel.

As we brought our four Stones together, each of us held a prayer in our Hearts and then together we released our Stones into Opimihaw Creek… releasing our highest vision back to Mother Earth and into the Hearts of all Humanity.
Just as we released our Stones the most magical thing happened ! Two ‘Barn Swallows’ seemed to appear out of the waters from underneath the bridge we standing on. The birds encircled us many times and then sat on the reeds near where we gifted our Stones (see photo bottom right) as if to bestow a final blessing on our ceremony and draw our circle to a close.
In looking up the spirit animal meaning of Barn Swallow ‘“The swallow knows its joy, and follows it absolutely, although it takes enormous effort to get where it has to be, the swallow presses on regardless. It knows that the journey’s end will be worth it.” – “Swallow”, “Bird Cards”. Thank you animal spirit swallow for lighting the pathway of our Spirited-Travellers World Tour.
As our walk drew to an end, we came across a sign on the trail and our hearts opened as we connected with the words of Elder Maria Linklater, Plains Cree:
And on the land there are Grandfathers, there is rocks… the rock has power to heal us if you treat that rock good.
These beautiful words in their simplicity express the sacred vision of our of Spirited-Travellers World Tour. We are carrying over 10kg of Crystals (rocks) that we have collected from around the world over the last 20 years and using them to bring people together from all walks of life in ceremony.
It is also our intention to release many of these CRYSTALS into power-points around the world as part of our GLOBAL EARTH BLESSING CEREMONIES during our tour.
