A couple of weeks ago my family and I had the pleasure of visiting the ancient city of Chichen Itza, in the Yucutan state of Mexico. It has been a life-long dream of mine to visit this ancient Mayan site, to connect with the wisdom of the ancient peoples and experience the energy of this highly advanced civilization.
Temple of Kukulcan
The Temple of Kukulcan or El Castillo in Spanish (pictured right) was a testament to the highly advanced mathematical, astronomical & spiritual knowledge of the Maya peoples.
The temple has four sides (representing the 4 seasons) and each side has 91 steps representing the number of days in a season (4 x 91 = 364). The top portion of the pyramid then represents the 365th day, the number of days in a solar year (Mayan Haab Calendar).
During the spring Equinox (March 20/21) and Autumn Equinox (Sept 20/21), the late afternoon sun (at approximately 3pm) reflects off the northwest corner of the pyramid and casts a series seven isosceles triangles against the northwest balustrade, creating the illusion of a feathered serpent “crawling” down the pyramid with its head visible at the bottom corner of the temple. This phenomenon only lasts for about 13 minutes.
This ‘Serpent’ represented to the Mayans the Kukulcan, the Feather Serpent God (also known as Quetzalcoatl to the Aztecs and Toltecs). The Equinox is a powerful portal gateway to ascension into higher levels of consciousness. At this time of unity, the feminine & masculine merge as one, opening opportunities to unify duality within our selves, and expand our awareness to greater dimensional/light octave levels. The Serpent represents the bridge between the inner an outer worlds, we are all ONE.
My family and I were fascinated that when we clapped our hands whilst facing the front stairway (see picture above), accoustically we had reflected back to us a ‘chirping sound’ said to be the sound of the Quetzal bird, the sacred bird of the deity Kukulkan/Quetzalcoatl.
Construction of Kukulcan
I LOVE learning new things when I travel… and I was surprised to learn that the Temple of Kukulcan contains a smaller temple inside of it (in the same pyramidal structure, just smaller).
Kukulcan is constructed of limestone and rather than made of large big blocks of stone (the Egyptian pyramids were made of blocks between 1 to 3 tonnes), the Temple of Kukulcan was made of very small rocks held together with a type of cement then blocks (only about 1 inch thick) were cemented on the outside to give the appearance that the temple was made of large blocks.
The picture above right shows the smaller rocks all cemented together where the outer blocks have eroded away.
The Observatory at Chichen Itza
The Observatory, named El Caracol (in Spanish) located just a short walk from The Temple of Kukulcan was partly in ruin, but still holding much of its dome shape (see picture right).
The staircase to the front (see picture right) faces 27.5 degrees north of west making a perfect alignment to the extreme northern position of Venus.
The ‘windows’ within the dome are situated at North, South, East & West marking the 23.5 degree tilt at Earth.
The markings/openings within the dome make possible the charting of the passage of Venus, Earth, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter… as well as the prediction of the equinoxes and solstices, including lunar and solar eclipses.
The Observatory also charted the Pleiades star cluster, which was important to the Mayans (as it was to the Lemurian Civilisation) as it was believed by many that Humans first came to Earth from the Pleiades.
The Nine Levels of Kukulcan
Now back to the Temple of Kukulcan, shown in the image to the right, the Temple of Kukulcan has 9 distinct levels – each representing a unique ‘Wave’ (or cycle) of the Mayan Calendar.
The Mayan Calendar system is a complex calendar system that charts waves (cycles of consciousness) rather than linear time like our current day Gregorian Calendar.
The 9 levels of the Kukulcan Temple represent the 9 Cycles of Cosmic Consciousness each starting after the other, running concurrently, with all 9 Waves having come to an end on the 28 October 2011.
The Mayan Calendar commenced with the origins of this universe some 16.4 billion years ago referred to as the Cellular 1st Wave. This was a ‘seeding moment’ in the evolution of creation, and the foundations for all 8 subsequent Waves.
The Mammalian 2nd Wave started 820 million years ago, the Familial 3rd Wave 41 Million years ago… etc… until the Universal 9th Wave started on the 9 March 2011 and ended on the 28 October 2011 (refer to Diagram below).
Each of these 9 Waves ran concurrently, but all 9 Waves ended on the 28 October 2011. At the end of the 9th Wave, a full ‘Tree of Life’ had been formed from the Seed through to the Fruit. This Fruit will sprout seeds, and give life to the next set of 9 Waves of the evolutionary cycle of all Creation.
The end of the Mayan Calendar represented not the end of ‘time’ but rather the end of one cycle of consciousness and the birth or quantum leap into another set of ‘9 Waves’ of consciousness.
It is this generation here on Earth that is ‘birthing’ humanity into a New Earth and collectively we are quantum leaping into a new set of ‘9 Waves’ of awakened consciousness.
What does this mean for humanity at this time ?
In this generation on Earth, we are currently sitting on the cusp, a ‘time between time’, a transitionary time that marks the close of one cycle and the beginning of the next stage of our evolutionary journey, the beginnings of a stepping into the Light of a New Earth.
We have ended the ‘9th Wave’ and are now sitting on the cusp of quantum leaping into a new ‘1st Wave’, represented by the first level of the Mayan Temples.
As mentioned in my article ‘2011 to 2040 – The Birthing of the Golden Age’’, ‘this generation holds the key ‘the power of choice’ as we come to the close of an era on this planet. Individually and collectively we have the power to envision and transform the planet in heart based global consciousness in unity and enduring peace.
Collectively we are choosing what we co-create together as we make the leap into a new world, a new cycle of 9 Waves, a quantum journey into this next stage of human, planetary, solar and cosmic evolution.
It is up to each and everyone of us NOW, in this generation, to determine the level of planetary and cosmic awakening achieved.
As we transition into this next evolutionary cycle of consciousness and evolve into being Divine Humans we are expressing our natural states of beingness that of compassion, kindness, joy and LOVE… we are remembering once again to live with WholeHeart through the Cosmic Breath.
