January 2014 – Lunar Cycles

The moon and its position within our celestial sky holds a powerful frequency that affects our day to day beingness here on Earth. The moons electro-magnetic influence as it waxes and wanes each month effects our physiology, our emotional/mental responses and spiritual potential.

The energy from the New Moon up to the Full Moon is gradually building in strength and intensity; thus the New Moon is a great time to set your intentions, write down goals or begin new projects for the forthcoming cycle. Consider sitting in ceremony or personal meditation and affirming to the Universe your intentions & inner-most heartfelt desires for the cycle.

From Full Moon to the New Moon the energy is gradually decreasing in strength and intensity… thus is a time to release and let go of any areas in your life that no longer serve your higher purpose. The Full Moon is a perfect time to connect in ceremony (personal or group), light a candle and release/transmute through sacred ritual that which no longer serves.

NEW MOON – 1 January 2014

Capricorn (Earth) – Practical, realist, reliable, hard worker, cautious

The energy of Capricorn is practical, hardworking and willing to put in the hard-yards to achieve goals. Just love the strong will of Capricorn’s tenacious nature and ‘can do’ attitude ! Many of my close girl friends are Capricorn… and I just love them !!!!!

When the Sun was in Sagittarius last month the energy was more visionary and bringing our conscious connection with our ideals of what we wish to be/become.

But with the Sun now in Cap, it is about taking those visions and making them practical.. make a plan, set the goals, put your head down and do the work.. and make it real !

This full moon emotions will be high… but provides a powerful opportunity to really let go of our fears around control, government, power, authority and realise that your fear is what creates/ maintains your reality.

It is a time to create your world from the inside out. Rather than focus on the pain of the planet, focus your energy/emotions on a vision of a new world, a place of peace, joy and unity… and set the foundations in place for the future.

NEW MOON (2nd New Moon) – 31 January 2014

Aquarius (Air) – Humanitarian, determined, individualistic, rebellious, independant

Our second January New Moon falls in Aquarius – creating an energy of visionary, enlightened thoughts for our personal life, our families and our community. This New Moon will be a time to reflect on why we are here, and finding new ways to how we can lead authentic lives.

Call upon this Lunar energy to embrace the true meaning of why you are here on Earth at this time.. and most importantly ACT upon your higher visions.

This 31 January New Moon, is also called a ‘Black Moon’ as it is the second new moon of the month. Combined with this New Moon being a Super Moon (see below), beginning of Chinese New Year (see below) it is set to be a powerful catalyst in bringing your desires into physical form.

Venus also moves direct in Capricorn just after the New Moon, so if you find your relationships (either friendships, lovelife or in business) have been challenging over the last 6 weeks, well you are set for a reprieve.. but not for too long as Mercury (the planet of communication) moves retrograde on the 7 Feb.

Yes that’s right, Mercury (the planet of communication) moves retrograde a week after new moon (appearance of going backwards in our sky) in Pisces, up until the 28 Feb. This will herald a time of inward ‘RE’s’, ie re-evaluations, re-checking of feelings etc. This is not a favourable time for signing contracts etc… and do remember to back up your computers BEFORE mercury goes retro.

Please note this New Moon is also a Super Moon (the 3rd most powerful Super Moon in 2014). Super Moon>

At this New Moon we also enter the Chinese New Year of the Wood Horse.

Lunar Transit of the Sun – as a side note, last night (30 Jan), the Moon transited the Sun… though this was only visible from space. The image to the right is a photo of the transit (spaceweather.com).
