The meaning of May
May Name: The month May was named after the Greek goddess Maia of the Pleiades – Mother of Hermes & daughter of Atlas. Maia means female elder & nurturer. The Romans also had a goddess named Maia (often referred to as Bona Dea – the Goddess of Fertility, Healing & Spring.
May Birth Flowers: Lily of the Valley (Humility), Mayflower (Hope, Faith, Consciousness)
May Birthstone: Emerald – meaning everlasting eternal LOVE & Healing.
May Plants/Herbs/Essential Oils: Hawthorne (Sacred Faerie Tree), Jasmine (love, dreams), Cinnamon (prosperity, warmth)

General Overview – Full & New Moons
The moon and its position within our celestial sky holds a powerful frequency that affects our day to day beingness here on Earth. The moons electro-magnetic frequency as it waxes and wanes each month effects our physiology, our emotional/mental responses and spiritual potential.
The energy from the New Moon up to the Full Moon is gradually building in strength and intensity; thus the New Moon is a great time to set your intentions, write down goals or begin new projects for the forthcoming cycle. Consider sitting in ceremony or personal meditation and affirming to the Universe your intentions & inner-most heartfelt desires for the cycle.
From Full Moon to the New Moon the energy is gradually decreasing in strength and intensity… thus is a time to release and let go of any areas in your life that no longer serve your higher purpose.
The Full Moon is a perfect time to connect in ceremony (personal or 
group), light a candle and release/transmute through sacred ritual that which no longer serves.

Our May New Moon falls in Taurus – thus this is the perfect time to be practical about your life and review what is it you need in order to make your souls physical existence a more comfortable one.
The vibration of Taurus brings with it determination, focus, ‘stick your heals in and get things done’ energy. As we move into this new moon, make a gratitude list of all the things in your life that make you ‘wealthy’ on the inside and out… even if it doesn’t already exist in the your life, add it to the list and be grateful for it.
Now make a list of how you can share that ‘wealth’ with others. Just by making the committment to share your wealth, you are creating more wealth and bringing abundance of wealth for all to share ….joy, hope, opportunity, healthful food for all, medical care, loving relationships and compassion for all.
Channel the Taurean energy this new moon, to create a practical vision for a new world.

During our May Full Moon, the Moon is in Sagittarius and the Sun is in Gemini. This is a great full moon to acknowledge that being/living spiritually need not be boring… we can actually have fun and enjoy the journey.
How about coming together with your friends for a full moon party, gathering, meditation evening… and honour the joy and bliss of being alive. Celebrate how far you have come on the journey so far and marvel at how these experiences have created magical lessons/wisdoms in your life.
