Moon & Sun in SAGITTARIUS
Moon – past, Intuition, unconscious, emotions, nurturing, feelings
Sun – now, Identity, consciousness, self-esteem, expression
Sagittarius (Fire) – freedom, leadership, adventure, spiritual, optimistic
The NEW MOON represents the beginning of our 29 day lunar month. During a New Moon, the moon is roughly sitting between the Earth & the Sun, hence the Sun is shining on the ‘dark side of the moon’, the side of the moon we never see. As a result, we cannot see the moon as the side that faces the Earth is not illuminated.
The Moon & the Sun emanate frequencies and these energy waves influence the tides, and all life forms on Earth, including human behaviour / consciousness. In addition, during a NEW MOON, both the Moon & Sun are in the same Zodiac sign… giving an exponential boost or concentration of the energy.
The Sun represents our ‘outer-world’, our identify, our personality, our ego. It represents how we ‘shine our light’ out into the world, the present moment, our yang or masculine archetype expression. The Sun offers us strength, courage and illuminated insight of the Soul.
The Moon represents our ‘inner world’, our hidden emotions, desires, our shadow-self, fears/worries and our dreams. It represents our feelings, our unconscious beliefs, the past and our yin or feminine goddess archetype. The Moon offers us the ability to feel, learn from the past and creatively unlock and express our essence.
During a NEW MOON, the side of the moon that remains invisible to us here on Earth is being illuminated by the Sun. Thus our own ‘invisible’ side, our inner feelings, emotions and desires are also being illuminated during a new moon. During this illumination, we are given a window of opportunity to start a fresh, let go of the energy of the previous cycle and set our intentions, dreams & inner-most desires into conscious action.
The NEW MOON is a great time to set your intentions, write down goals or begin new projects for the forthcoming cycle. Consider sitting in ceremony or personal meditation and affirming to the Universe your intentions & inner-most heartfelt desires for the cycle.
Our NOVEMBER NEW MOON – falls in the Zodiac sign of SAGITTARIUS… heralding in a peaceful and most joyous ray of light into our lives following our 11:11 Remember LOVE Portal and our FULL Moon SUPERMOON earlier this month.
As you may recall, our last New Moon – our October 30/31 Black New Moon, was in the water sign of SCORPIO… calling us to embrace the energy of the Alchemical Master – look to those areas of your life that need a HUGE overhaul (eg relationships, money, career) and use the Scorpion resourcefulness and intuitive insight to create change. For some of us it this energy may have been a very intense/emotional/challenging time… particularly on the wave of the earlier energies during the month.
But now, as the NEW MOON transits Sagittarius, we are opening to a joyous time of lightness of being as we make our way into the last weeks of 2016. As I discussed in my Numerology of 2017 Article, 2016 has been a year of endings… a year where we have reflected and grown from all of our wisdoms gained over the last 9 years and chosen to let go of those areas of our life that are no longer working and that no longer represent who we are… such a relief to let go of the chains of the past !
This SAGITTARIUS New Moon is shining a wave of fun, joy, freedom and celebration of a year well lived. For me it feels like a much needed AMEN in our lives and time to gracefully sit in our hearts in gratitude for our lives/experiences and BE PRESENT with the beauty, sacredness and blissful LOVE of the present moment.
The pioneering, freedom loving and independant SAGITTARIAN energy will most likely have us kicking up our heals a little, enjoying festivities with friends and family and revelling in our playful side a little more… YES… it it will certainly be a time to let you inner-child out to play !
In this period of frivolity and lightness, it will also be an awakening/focus on what brings you joy and fulfillment in your life… so you may find yourself starting to consider just what your Universal ‘1’ year in 2017 may begin to look like…. and my guess is the word FUN will be at the top of your list !
During your inner-journey work in 2016, you may have seen how easy it can be to get side-tracked and lose sight of the most important things in your life… sometimes the ‘have to’s’ take precedence over the soul callings. It is so easy to get swamped in responsibilities & routine… and forget the most important SOUL HEARTED moments & experiences that nourish you from the inside out and make your heart sing.
We also have a couple of other interesting astro alignments this NEW MOON… with the Asteroid JUNO conjunct the Moon & SUN… PLUS the Fixed Star ANTARES is also conjunct the Moon & Sun… PLUS just to add in a little bit more interest to the mix – the Moon, Sun, Antares & Juno are square Nepture… and JUNO is a very strong square to Neptune at less than half a degree. The asteroid JUNO was found in 1805, and was the third of the four major asteroids to be discovered. These four asteroids, which came on the scene just as the 19th century began, represent different aspects of the feminine spirit. In mythology Juno (or the Greek Hera) was wife and consort to Jupiter, and therefore the astrology of Juno represents the partnering energy of intimate relationship, marriages, all unions and partnership finance. Neptune is the planet of illusion, deception, creativity… so with this strong squaring we may see spontaneous or impulsive engagements, weddings or conversely affairs, sexual violence, separations & divorces.
The fixed star ANTARES is the central ‘heart’ of Scorpio. The energy of the fixed star ANTARES is a little like a weaving of Mars & Jupiter together. The words destruction, rash, independance, blunt, egotistical, crafty and arrogance. Hence during this New Moon, the energy of ANTARES may add a little more firey amplification to the mix of JUNO /Moon / Sun / Neptune… anticipate a hotting up in the relationship department… and a overwhelming compulsion to end/begin an relationship… possibly even using sex/dominance for power. My advice… it may not be the best time at this full moon to begin/end a relationship/partnership… maybe best to reserve any major decision until the intensity has waned into the later part of December 2016.

During this New Moon (and over the 7 to 10 days following the New Moon).. take some time to really revel in and surrender to this delicious firey energy that will inspire and offer you a vision of a fresh, awakened and transcendant vision of your future. Whilst not a time to make any major committments… it is a time to fire up and have FUN, play, dance, sing, be merry… smile and the world will smile with you ♡
