A love letter written in the sky
Venus draws a 5 petalled rose around the Earth every 8 years, one of the most divine patterns within astrology, sacred geometry, and cosmic intelligence.
And on the 24 October 2026, Venus creates her final petal point in Scorpio, which we will not see again until November 2177.
In the lead up to this last Scorpio Star Point, Venus stationed retrograde at 8°30′ Scorpio on 3 October 2026,
Just last week, Venus stationed retrograde at 8°30′ Scorpio (3 October 2026). She’s already turning inward, gathering herself in the dark ready for her conjunction with the Sun and seeding a brand-new star point.
Let me share my insights on the Venus Rose, her five petaled Star Points, this weeks 10:10:10 Libra New Moon (Libra is ruled by Venus), and the sacred mystery of her astrology, geometry, fibonacci numbers, golden mean… and so much more.
Venus Meets the Sun
Venus is an inner planet in our Solar System, second from the Sun. During Venus’s rotation around the Sun, she makes two different conjuncts from the perspective of what we see here on Earth.
The Inferior Conjunction happens when Venus passes between the Earth and the Sun. She’s as close to us as she ever comes, her lit side faces away from us, and she disappears into the Sun’s glare. Think of it as a ‘new Venus‘, like a New Moon. This meeting always happens right in the middle of Venus retrograde. There is nothing ‘inferior’ about this conjunction in the everyday meaning of the word, it is simply a distinction to the ‘superior conjunction’.
The Superior Conjunction happens when Venus slips behind the Sun, on the far side of her orbit. She’s as far from us as she gets, fully lit like a ‘full Venus‘, and moving direct.
Both the inferior and superior conjunctions are referred to as a Cazimi, the sacred moment when a planet sits in the heart of the Sun. Astrologers call each one a Venus Star Point.
The exact zodiac degree where the Venus Star Point lands, becomes a little seed of Venusian wisdom that we carry for the next eight years..
Venus retrograde: the heart of the inner star
Venus never actually moves backwards. Venus retrograde is an optical illusion. Because Venus orbits faster than we do, she overtakes the Earth on the inside lane, and for about 40 days she appears to slide backwards through the zodiac.
[Interesting side-note, Venus takes 224.7 Earth days to orbit the Sun. However, Venus rotates on tis axis very slowly, taking approx 243 Earth days to complete one rotation, which means a single day on Venus is longer than its year!].
Right in the middle of Venus’s retrograde transit, she reaches the Inferior Conjunction and meets the Sun, a Cazimi, a Star Point. So every Venus retrograde holds a Star Point at its very core.
Here are the KEY dates during Venus’s current retrograde cycle:
- 1 September: Venus enters her pre-retrograde shadow at 22°52′ Libra
- 3 October: Venus stations retrograde at 8°29′ Scorpio
- 11 October: New Moon in Libra (ruled by Venus) 10:10:10
- 11 October: Venus squares Mars
- 20 October: Venus squares Pluto
- 24 October: Venus meets the Sun at 0°45′ Scorpio, creating the Venus Star Point
- 25 October: Retrograde Venus re-enters Libra
- 28 October: Venus opposes Chiron
- 14 November: Venus stations direct at 22°52′ Libra
- 4 December Venus re-enters 0°00′ Scorpio
- 16 December: Venus leaves her post-retrograde shadow
Venus retrograde happens roughly every 19 months and lasts about six weeks. It’s an invitation to turn inward and ask: what do I truly value, what do I love, and where have I been selling my heart short?
The ancients saw Venus’s retrograde cycle as her descent into the underworld. In the oldest version of the story, the Sumerian goddess Inanna, whom they identified with Venus, travels down to the realm of the dead through seven gates. At each gate she surrenders a piece of her finery, until she stands bare before the queen of the underworld. There she dies, hangs in the darkness for three days, and is then revived and rises again.
The sky tells the same story. As retrograde begins, Venus sinks lower each evening as the evening star. Around the time of the Inferior Conjunction she vanishes into the Sun’s glare for a few days to a couple of weeks, then re-emerges before dawn as the morning star.
Her retrograde is the descent, the star point is her moment in the underworld, and her return as the morning star is her rebirth. This year the descent happens in Scorpio, the sign of the underworld itself, ruled by Pluto, lord of the depths.
The 19-month heartbeat
Venus conjuncts the Sun every 19 months (584 days) in the same way, either Inferior Conjunction to Inferior Conjunction, or Superior Conjunction to Superior Conjunction. Astronomers call this her synodic cycle. I like to think of it as Venus’s heartbeat.
In Crystal Light Healing Level III, I talk in depth about sacred geometry, fibonacci numbers, and the divine proportion or Phi or Golden mean of Φ or 1.618. We see 1.618 ratio throughout nature, appearing extensively within the Human Body, animals, plants, weather patterns, our Solar System, even the spiral of our Galaxy. Read a little more about 1.618 in my Universal 5 Year article.
Those 19 months when compared to our Earth’s Solar year, calculates at 1.6 years (583.9 days ÷ 365.25 = 1.599).
Five synodic cycles (her 5 Star Points), fit almost exactly into eight years, and 8 ÷ 5 = 1.6, a ratio of two Fibonacci numbers that echoes the golden mean, Φ or 1.618.
Venus’s heartbeat itself is tuned to the golden mean.
And then every 9.5 months (mid-point of 19 months), Venus conjuncts the Sun in a different way, eg Inferior Conjunction then 9.5 months later a Superior Conjunction, then 9.5 months later Inferior conjunction etc. So the rhythm goes: retrograde meeting, direct meeting, retrograde meeting, direct meeting, each one about 9.5 months apart.
That makes ten meetings in eight years. Five (5) Inferior Conjunctions (retrograde) and 5 Superior Conjunctions (direct). Notice that the first and last on the timeline are both retrograde meetings in early Scorpio, 8 years apart.
The 8 year cycle
Venus’s full dance with the Sun, takes place over 8 Earth years as follows:
-
8 Earth years is 2,922 days.
-
13 Venus orbits around the Sun is 2,921 days.
-
5 synodic cycles (five meetings of each kind) is 2,920 days.
So after eight years, Venus, the Sun and the Earth come back into almost exactly the same arrangement.
And 5, 8 and 13 are consecutive Fibonacci numbers, the sacred sequence behind the golden ratio, phi, Φ or 1.618
That’s why each star point repeats in the same part of the zodiac every eight years… though progressing backwards through the Zodiac sign, more about that soon.
It’s also why the same kind of meeting returns, retrograde to retrograde, direct to direct. Every four years Venus touches the same neighbourhood again, but from the opposite side of the Sun, a little like a New Moon and a Full Moon falling in the same sign.
But notice the tiny gap. Five meetings take about two and a half days less than eight full years. Again, more about that short-fall and progression soon.
The Venus Pentagram (Star Points)
In the 19 months between two retrograde meetings, the Sun travels a year and a bit around the zodiac. So each new meeting lands around 216° further on, which skips over two of the five spots and lands on the third.
Join those meetings with lines in the order they happen, and you don’t get a pentagon. You get a perfect five-pointed star.

The five retrograde Inferior Conjunction meetings draw the Interior Star (also called inferior or internal star).
And the five direct Superior Conjunction meetings draw a second star, the Exterior Star (also called superior or external star).
Right now the two stars sit almost on top of each other, each point paired like a twin, approx two degrees away.
Look at 29°27′ Libra (direct, Superior Conjunction 2022) beside 0°45′ Scorpio (retrograde, Inferior Conjunction 2026).
Or Look at 18°44′ Capricorn (retrograde, 2022) beside 16°22′ Capricorn (direct, 2026).
The exterior star is how love and value show up in our outer world. The interior star is the quiet, sacred work of the heart. Two stars, one rose, and we’re always living inside both.
The Venus Rose
The Venus Pentagram is the skeleton. The rose is the living flower. If you put the Earth in the centre and trace where Venus actually travels over eight years, her path blooms into a sacred rose.
See my Venus Retrograde article, for a short video showing the formation of the Venus Rose.
Each small inner loop is a retrograde. That’s when Venus swings in closest to us, appears to reverse, and meets the Sun at the Inferior Conjunction. Five loops make five petals, and the five petals sit at the five points of the Interior Star.
The Superior Conjunctions sit on the opposite edge of the flower. Out on the wide outer rim, Venus is on the far side of the Sun, about 1.7 times further from us than the Sun itself, moving direct. So the rose holds both stars at once, the Interior Star at its heart and the Exterior Star around its edge.
This is why Venus became the goddess of the rose, the pentacle and the apple (slice an apple across its middle and you’ll find a five-pointed star).
The last Scorpio Star Point
Remember my earlier statement on progressions and the gap?
Because the 5 Star Point meetings fall about 2.5 days short of 8 years, each star point returns about 2°22′ earlier in the zodiac. Ever so slowly, the whole Venus Star progresses backwards.
At that backward progression pace through the Zodiac, a star point takes about 100 years to move back through one sign (30° ÷ 2°22′ × 8 years). You’ll often see figures of 108 to 120 years quoted too, as the exact pace wobbles a little.
Our current Venus retrograde star point first entered Scorpio at 29°45′ in 1930. For 96 years it has carried us through Scorpio’s depths: intimacy, power, shared resources, taboo, desire, death and rebirth. On 24 October 2026 it touches down at 0°45′ Scorpio for the very last time. For 8 years later, in 2034 it lands at 28°23′ Libra, and it stays in Libra for roughly the next hundred years.
However, there is a little more to the story…
