Sound is our pathway to enlightenment, we are bathed in sound in each every moment, nothing exists without sound. Sound is the vibration from which our entire existence originated. In the Old Testament in Genesis ‘And God said, Let there be Light, and there was Light’ it was God’s spoken divine word (sound) that created the Light and hence all of Creation.
As discussed in Crystal Light Healing®, sound and Light are geometrically enmeshed together to from vibrations that create our Universe and the entire Cosmos. The origins of life and the density of our Earth came from sound. To understand how sound and light create life, lets firstly embrace the meaning of sound, frequency and harmonics.
What is Sound?
Everything is sound ! Everything vibrates from electrons and protons around a nucleus to planets revolving around the sun and it’s their vibratory patterns that create sound. The vibratory ripples send out ‘waves’ and these waves of energy are measured in terms of ‘frequency’ which creates sound. Not all sound is audible to our ears however as it may be of too high or low frequency to be heard by humans.
What is Frequency?
Sound travels as waves, and the faster or slower the waves are travelling per second are referred to as the waves ‘frequency’. The frequency is referred to as vibrations per second or hertz ‘hz’. Thus for example take a guitar string, if it was plucked and it vibrated at 100 times per second (vibrating back and forth) it would have a frequency of 100 hz.
For example the note middle ‘C’ on the piano vibrates at 256 hz (256 cycles per second), and this frequency creates middle ‘C’. The C an octave higher vibrates at 512 hz exactly double the ‘C’ of the lower octave. The ‘doubling’ continues each octave up the scale and thus ‘halves’ each octave down the scale.
What are Harmonics?
When any note is played on an instrument it is referred to as the ‘fundamental’ tone, it is the first and most prominent sound you hear. However, the vibratory rate of that sound also induces many other notes to sound at the same time. Thus when you play a single note, hidden within that sound is the sound of many other notes playing at the same time.
Using our middle ‘C’ example above, when you strike this key on a piano every C one Octave higher is also sounded at the same time. Thus the vibration of that fundmental key causes all C strings above that note to also vibrate contributing to the original notes overall sound. In addition, other notes further up the Octave are also sounded, as they are mathematically interrelated to the original notes vibration.
All other notes which automatically sound when the fundamental note is played are referred to as ‘Overtones’ or ‘Harmonics’ of the fundamental note.
Harmonics give instruments their uniqueness, as they shape the sounds we hear (different instruments magnify different overtones (although all are sounded), hence different sounds are produced. A musical instruments fundamental note and its harmonics are referred to as its ‘timbre’.
How does all this relate to me?
Well done if you have made it this far, I hope I haven’t lost too many of you…. but the above concepts are important in understanding sound, light and healing.
When we make a sound, be it on a musical instrument, with our voices, movement of our bodies etc… we are in fact vibrating other sounds or notes up to an infinite levels of octaves. What this means is the sound we make resonates up to the higher celestial levels and we are in fact communicating with the heavens through all multi-dimensional levels of creation.
When we say the words I Love you, and say them with purity of intent, the notes sounded from our vocal cords/mouth and the associated harmonics created, travel up and up through an infinite level of octaves (where the hz are in the trillions of trillions etc..) and connect our cellular vibrations to the cosmic levels. This may sound all too fantastic to be true, but this is proven through quantum physics and the science of movement of sound waves.
If you say the words I hate you, a discordant range of harmonic notes are sounded (a little like scratching your nails done a chalk board), which creates an energetic environment around you that does not resonate harmoniously with your energetic fields. It is these discordant vibrations that manifest as ‘dis-ease’ within your physical body, or on emotional or mental levels.
What this means is your ‘Sounds’ are what mould the environment and create your reality. Thus you must become conscious of your thoughts, self-talk, what you say, and all ‘sounds’ you make, as all these vibratory waves are creating your existence in the now. The good new is, you have the power to change these vibrations in your world at any moment of time, the choice is yours.
My young daughter summed this all up beautifully a few short years ago with her innocent comments of wisdom. Lying in bed one morning, we were having a cuddle and she turned to me and said ‘I Love Mummy, I Love Daddy, I Love my brother and I Love myself’. I congratulated her for loving herself and expressing her feelings. She then turned to me and said ‘It is important to love yourself Mummy, as God is in all of us, and if I don’t love myself that means I don’t love God’. Yes you guessed it, she is one of my most important teachers!
