Words… whether they be your spoken words, your thoughts, attitudes, emotions or your non-verbal expressions, your ‘WORDS’ have the power to heal but they also have the power to hurt and wound.
So how do you use your words ? How do you use your words with others ? And then reflecting inwardly, how do you use your words toward yourself ? Are your words an expression of LOVE or are your words filled with fear, anxiety, worry, hurt & judgement.
Over the last few days I have been deeply reflecting on how I use my words and from a place of self-love and deepest compassion for my humanness I can see my words have not always been of LOVE in each and every moment.
As you, my beautiful Universal Life Tools community all know… my family and I are currently travelling around the world on our Spirited-Travellers World tour, facilitating free talks & workshops in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand & Asia.
With this in mind… imagine the four of us, myself, my husband & our two beautiful teenagers driving around the US/Canada (over March to October 2015) spending each and every waking & sleeping moment together 24/7 ! What a brilliant opportunity to spend quality time with our children prior to them leaving home and spreading their wings out into the world. And from an opposite polarity, what a recipe for friction, angst…. and well words of frustration !!!!!!!
One of the magical aspects of travel is that it gives you the opportunity to really ‘see’ yourself away from the imprinting, comforts and day-to-day routine of home. So yes, each of us have had the opportunity to really SEE each OTHER & SEE OURSELVES over the last six weeks of travel. We have seen the LOVE and we have also seen our fears. At times we have bridged these aspects of self with ease… and at other times our words have been filled with hurt, anguish and much woe.
For us as a family, as we ‘see’ each others torment and we hear each others words filled with fear, it can be so easy (especially when our buttons are pushed to the limit) to respond from this same expression of grief & anguish. Of course what we say and do creates more of the same… so our mirrored words have only added to the sorrow and suffering of all of us.
Reflecting back on the last 44 days I can see how I have responded at times with words not of the highest most lovingly expression of my Soul. It is usually late at night (after midnight) when one of our children will not go to bed and is purposely being loud, disruptive & rude (this then keeps ALL of us from falling asleep) and I am tired, have a big day ahead and my patience, tolerance & diplomacy have run thin !
How do YOU deal with the trying moments in the life and how do you consciously embrace speaking from a place of LOVE when you are surrounded by friction, abuse and anger from another ?
The answer is of course LOVE. Place yourself in the shoes of the other person and see the situation through their eyes, through the window of their Soul. WHY is that person hurt, sad or angry and why are they reacting this way in the moment.
Rather than see yourself as the victim of the anguish of another, embrace the situation and create an opportunity for you to hold the deepest most compassionate states of LOVE for that person. This is not to say that you are the person who is RIGHT and the other person is wrong or that you are BETTER than the other person… but rather being the observer fosters kindness, compassion and understanding of the situation at hand and through the power of LOVE transforms the situation with Grace & Ease. LOVE brings light into a heart that is experiencing darkness and honours the unity within our diversity.
When we look at the world at large, wars are started through fear, struggle and pain are amplified through the reactive expression of collective emotions and separation is brought into form through self-righteous competition and values based on scarcity and lack.
Just for today… take a moment to truly SEE your words and reflect on how you use them in your life. Take a moment to really LISTEN to another and transform anothers pain through the wisdom of your Heart.
As toltec wisdom so eloquently expresses, ‘be impeccable with your word’, release the ‘judgement of any lesser expression’ and most importantly aspire to ‘do your best in each and every moment’.
