Today, May 15/16 2018, Uranus moves into the astro sign of Taurus… where it will retrograde back into Aries in December 2018, but will move back into Taurus again on March 6, 2019 for the next 7 years.
Uranus takes 84 years to fully transit our Sun, hence spending around 7 years transiting through each of the 12 Astrological signs. Average human life expectancy is around 84 years, so a full cycle of Uranus is likened to a ‘human life-cycle’ and each of its 12 astro transits is a lesson/growth phase in personal discovery/awakening and ultimately planetary evolution…oh yeh!
The personal planets – Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus & Mars – move quickly through the Zodiac and represent our individual personal characteristics and experiences. Whereas our outer planets – Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune & Pluto – take a much longer time to transit the Sun, hence they shape the big picture themes of our lives.
So when Uranus moves out of Aries and into Taurus for the next 7 years, the Uranian ripple creates huge waves through the fabric of the cosmos.
Sharing with you my thoughts, reflections on the past, what we can anticipate in the future… and most importantly, how to make the MOST of this transit in the PRESENT.

Energy of Uranus
Uranus embodies the energy of rebellion, freedom, the unconventional, technological advancement and visionary humanitarian achievements. I consider Uranus to be the wildcard of the pack, unpredictable, original and out of the box. Uranus can spark revolutions as it has its gaze on more humanitarian, freedom loving and unconventional pursuits. Oh Uranus, bring it on !!!
Uranus is also associated with wild weather, storms, electricity… and I feel Uranus as sparking lightning bolt of inspiration, psychic phenomenon, miracles and ANYTHING out of the realms of possibility (ie beliefs)… think visionary, high-tech, revolutionary.
Energy of Taurus
Taurus is a fixed Earth sign and embodies the energy of patience, pleasure, materialism and is driven, determined, stubborn and somewhat conservative in its pursuits. Taurus is our kinship with the physical world – planet Earth, our resources, animals, including our personal belongings and finances. Taurus LOVES the finer things in life, the creature comforts. And Taurus craves stability, consistency and yearns for security… particularly financial!
I love how Taurus beholds beauty, and has a penchant for things that feel good such as great food, beautiful belongings, art/creativity and environment. Taurus is grounded and steady, but if anything gets in it’s way, watch out for that raging bull!
When Uranus Transits Taurus
So what happens when Uranus transits Taurus for 7 years ? Well these two clash and make some hell of a ruckus… leading to radical changes in the bigger themes of our lives!
When Uranus the planet of revolutionary growth / awakening unites with the Taurean vibe of comfort, security and conservatism… Uranus wants change NOW & Taurus doesn’t want to budge… well life as we know it can get turned upside down, inside out in the blink of an eye. Expect the unexpected in the months and years to come with the clash of these two titans yielding change whether we like it or not!
Our last Uranus-Taurus Transit: 1934 to 1942
Uranus last transited through Taurus from 1934 to 1942… through the Great Depression and beginnings of World World War II. A time of financial hardship, changes in currency (ie rationing), relationships torn apart, society in upheaval. This was a time of great uncertainty and a huge shift in global reality.
Astrology is cyclical and helps us make sense of the repeating patterns of history… so as Uranus now repeats its transit of Taurus some 84 years later we can expect ‘unexpected’ changes in the areas of finance, technology/innovation, relationships & environment.
Oh and one other interesting fact… the board game Monopoly was born in 1935 (under the influence of Uranus-Taurus)… Monopoly is about finance, trading, wealth, property. And now in September 2018, under the same influence of Uranus-Taurus the tokens in the board game are being replaced for a modern era. Coincidence? I think not!
Uranus Transiting Aries: 2010/11 to 2018
As Uranus now ventures into Taurus, it have just completed (well nearly completed) a 7+ year transit of Aries.
Uranus moved into Aries (Leader, impatient, risk taker) in May 2010. The Uranus in Aries transit heralded a time of finding your own two feet, your independence and finding freedom to be YOU. A time to move beyond the boundaries of the BOX, own your I AM and not be drawn or defined by the memes of society. A time to live your life as a direct expression of spirit unique to you… and allow your rawness to empower others to do the same.
Uranus hasn’t quite completed it’s 7+ year transit of Aries, for on the 6 Nov 2018 it will briefly transit retrograde into Aries, moving direct through Taurus once again on 6 March 2019.
When Uranus is retrograde, chaos is often the order of the day as you expect the unexpected of an unexpectable planet ! If you are shy you may find yourself at the centre of attention, or if you are an extrovert you may find yourself hiding away. You may find your personality or behavior quite altered at this time, as your actions in the world oppose what others normally experience or expect of you.
Take the opportunity during Uranus retro to explore inwardly what freedom means to you and what you need to change to be this freedom. Intuition is heightened during this self-help psychological assessment and real ‘ah-ha’ moments are often the order of the day.
Uranus Transiting Taurus: 2018 to 2026
Uranus transiting through Taurus over the next 7 years is set to break all the rules as it rebels against society’s structures. As old structures crumble, new visionary creations will be birthed that are kinder and more loving to us and the planet.
Uranus seeks change, growth & revolution. Uranus helps you to walk to the beat of your own drum and find what makes you happy on your own clock, via your own rules. And ultimately Uranus serves you by setting you free from your self-imposed constraints.
Here are the main areas of potential growth/change over the next 7+ years through our Uranus-Taurus transit.
Finances
We will experience tremendous changes in the financial landscape of our economies and personal finances. We are being called to reflect on the ‘values’ we place on stuff and at what cost. Is the big house, huge mortgage and fancy car actually worth it? At what cost to your health and enjoyment of life is the burden of debt? This may not mean giving away/selling everything you own, but an honest introspective look at the burden of ownership and what serves you and the planet.
Uranus will serve us lessons, often through polarity (ie wealth/poverty) to engage us in finding a deeper, more meaning reflection of what we value… and maybe we will find our inner-value, our intangible priceless quality means so much more to us than over-consumption of all that stuff! What would you do with your life if you were free of servicing debt… where would you spend your creativity and indulge your heartfelt desires ?
With innovation a key quality of Uranus, we may find globally a HUGE change in financial markets… a new currency born, a change in our monetary system… or even the crash of one system that births another. Bitcoin maybe, or maybe some other innovative digital currency ?
The sign of Taurus the Bull is associated with banking & finance.. think of the term a ‘Bull or Bear’ market. On Wall street New York sits a bronze statue of a charging Bull and in recent times a second bronze statue has been erected of a young ‘Fearless Girl’ facing the bull. As Uranus challenges our cultural definition of male-female in gender, relationship & society roles… maybe the face of the banking industry will be turned upside down as women take the lead in changing the nature of global finances ?
Technology & Environment
Uranus loves technology and invention and when combined with Taurus – in reverence to the holism of Earth.
Industry will be challenged and corporations compelled by consumer demand to be a force of good in the world. Profit at the detriment of the environment, at the cost of health and wellbeing will not be tolerated. There will be a greater push to compel big business to give back, to serve communities rather than take from them.
Innovative ways of growing food, reducing chemicals, waste and recycling will evolve during this time. Expect changes in agricultural practices as they become more bio-diverse, ecologically restorative and sustainable.
With Taurus influencing all things Earth and Uranus sure to whip up change… we may experience volatility and big ‘movements’ in the Earth, such as Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or hurricanes during the settling in period of Uranus.
Health, Pleasure & Relationships
There will be huge growth in personal self-care and a push to live in a greater harmony with the Earth, rather than be caged within artificial cycles created by governments, corporations & societal structures. As ‘time’ is taken back by the people, humanity ingenuity & creativity will flourish through joyful pleasure… ultimately leading to innovative ways of sharing Earth’s resources and wealth.
Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of desire & sensuality. There will a great desire for people to seek pleasure in their daily lives as they detach from the hard grind & slog of the current structures or expectations of life/work. You may have heard of the slow food movement, well the slow living movement will definitely gain momentum… taking time to ravish yourself in lifes pleasures.
The ‘rules’ of relationships will change and the concepts or definitions of gender/relationships will change. There will emerge a greater freedom to break the rules of having to be defined in any one category, and finding a greater truth from within.
