New Moons are all about setting intentions for the forthcoming cycle… how perfect then that our first NEW MOON for the year falls in the Zodiac sign of CAPRICORN. CAPRICORN New Moon is practical, hardworking and willing to put in the hard-yards to achieve goals. Hence this first week of January is a perfect time to set your intentions not only just for this cycle, but also a ripple for the year 2019 ahead.
When the Moon & Sun were in Sagittarius last month on our 7 December New Moon, the energy was more visionary and bringing our conscious connection with our ideals of what we wish to be/become… connecting with the feeling. This helped to anchor our feelings through the Galactic Alignment on the 19 December 2018… resonating the liquid crystal sound waves out into the Cosmos.
Now that our Sun has moved into Capricorn, it is about taking those visions and making them practical.. make a plan, set the goals, put your head down and do the work.. and make it real ! What a great start to 2019!!! Here is how I started the NEW YEAR on the 1st January – PLANTING my SEEDS of ABUNDANCE for 2019.
There are many stellar bodies also influencing our January New Moon… PLUTO & SATURN are sitting either side of our Sun (4 to 5 degrees apart), and to a lesser extent MERCURY is in the first degree of Capricorn and the LUNAR SOUTH NODE in the last degrees of Capricorn. Pluto weaves transformation & Saturn is often referred to as the planet of karma, discipline or the dispenser of justice. Pluto in Capricorn is about death and rebirth or endings and beginnings. It is a time of breaking down all old outdated structures. Saturn in Capricorn is a time to get REAL & be truly honest with yourself – there are no shortcuts – create a PLAN and use this solid foundation to flourish. No more excuses… JUST DO IT!!!!

Solar Eclipses occur on the New Moon, whereby the Moon moves between the Earth and Sun, obscuring Earth’s view of the Sun – hence the Sun, Moon & Earth are in a straight line (see diagram).
The energy of a Solar Eclipse ‘obscures’ our vision forward, such that we can take time to reflect on the present and truthfully see how this relates to our past. The insights gained are not about dragging up old energy, or reliving painful events or experiences, but rather to positively reassess where you have been and use this knowledge to make quantum leaps on your path moving forward.
A Solar Eclipse feels like a mega-amplified New Moon and can be been VERY intense. But (and there is always a but) also has the potential to be wildly transformational… should we choose to surrender to the eclipses greater potential. Well to be honest, Eclipses have the effect of pushing you to transform… and the choice comes into being as to whether you choose to transform the hard way (ie kicking & screaming) or surrender to a grander version of yourself with grace & ease !
Our January New Moon Solar Eclipse is actually a partial eclipse – meaning that the Moon only PARTIALLY covers the surface of the Sun (as viewed from Earth)… so it not as intense… but rather a great entré into our Eclipse Window – with our Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse later in the month.
