Our first Full Moon for 2020 is also a Lunar Eclipse, falling the astrological sign of Cancer.

With Pluto & Saturn hot under the heels of this Full Moon eclipse, we maybe venturing into the arena of not only our personal shadows during this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, but also our collective shadows.  Cancer is the sign of HOME… reflections on how our Earthly home needs to be nourished and nurtured will be brought to the fore. 

What needs to change ?  What shifts need to happen in our personal & collective values ?  What structures, ideologies, beliefs are calling to be shattered in order to make way for a NEW ERA in nourishing, loving & regenerating Earth ?  What does HOME mean to us, and how do we serve the HOMEs of Community, Society & our Global Family ?   Are we living our values when it comes to serving HOME ?

Cancer Full Moon

During the CANCER Full Moon, the moon is reflecting the light of the Sun in CAPRICORN. 

The FULL MOON in watery CANCER will mean that emotions will be running very high this FULL MOON… but if channeled wisely, will be a brilliant opportunity to gain deep intuitive insight into your own personal themes for 2020.   Particularly as this Full Moon is also a Lunar Eclipse AND is only 2 days out from the conjunction of Pluto & Saturn on the 13 January 2020.

What do you envision / feel / imagine for yourself this 2020 and what must you let go of in order to birth this awakened vision of you ?  Let the Sun in the practical sign of CAPRICORN bring to light what is felt deep within your Heart-n-Soul.   Particularly since 2020 is a Universal 4 Year in Numerology, getting clear about your DEVOTIONS & building solid foundations will help you navigate a year of exceptional change in the structures, values, and natures of our modern world .

Whilst the energy of a Full Moon can cause tension & uncomfortable friction (where do you think the name ‘lunatic’ came from), at the same time a Full Moon can ignite a greater amplification of vision & potential possibility.  And this will be felt even MORE strongly this Full Moon as we are also graced with a LUNAR ECLIPSE this Full Moon.

The Sun (our outer-world) in Capricorn is hardworking and gets things done.  Capricorn has a vision, rolls it’s sleeves up and is prepared to do the hard-yards to reach its goal.   Capricorn can however get a little too caught in process at times, or even maybe a little bit too rigid in executing the ‘plan’.  Remember Capricorn, all work & no play makes Jack a dull boy !

The Sun in Capricorn, is being balanced by the Moon (our inner-world) in Cancer.   Cancer is the sign of the Sacred Feminine, the creative Mother energy and the nurturer.  Tenderness, lightness… and bringing an intuitive/creatively playful edge to our Full Moon.  Which I personally welcome… as there are so many other aspects happening this Full Moon, not to mention the HUGE conjunction of Pluto & Saturn on the 13 January 2020… a little play maybe just what we need to take heed of to get us through!

Mercury, Ceres, Saturn & Pluto

It certainly is Capricorn season this Full Moon, with a stellium of planets dancing with the Sun.  With the SUN at 20.00⁰ Capricorn this Full Moon, we have Mercury at 20.06⁰ Capricorn, Ceres at 21.50⁰ Capricorn, Saturn at 22.33⁰ Capricorn, & Pluto at 22.43⁰ Capricorn.  Jupiter is also in early degrees of Capricorn, getting ready for its conjunction transits from April to December 2020.

MERCURY the planet of Communication, may enable ‘channeled’ insights into a more beautiful world… and now its up to us to take our insights and put them into conscious action through Capricorn.

Penumbral Lunar Eclipse

Just to make this first FULL Moon of the year a little more interesting… we also have a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse!    

Lunar Eclipses & Solar Eclipses come in pairs, and you may recall late last year we had a New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse on the 26 December 2019 – whereby the Moon moved between the Earth and Sun, obscuring Earth’s view of the Sun. 

Now two weeks later on this weeks FULL Moon, we have a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse– whereby the moon moves through the penumbral part of the Earth’s shadow hence this eclipse is very feint.  Here is a map of who will be able to see the eclipse – Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Much of North America, East in South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic – though it will be very feint and barely visible.  And here on the Sunshine Coast, during the maximum eclipse the Moon will be below the horizon, so we will just miss out on viewing.

Energetically during a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, as the Moon is partially sitting in Earth’s shadow (ie unable to reflect the I AM Light of the Sun), a window opens and we are drawn into ourselves, the part that we don’t show to the world, the emotional and deepest part of our psyche.   The word ECLIPSE comes from the Greek word “ekleipsis” meaning “to abandon, to leave, to vanish” – and that’s exactly what we may experience during a Lunar Eclipse – the desire to surrender and let go of parts of our self that limit our greater potential.

A Lunar Eclipse provides a powerful opportunity to release deep-seated wounds, move beyond old fears and to transcend negative patterns or traits within the shadow self. It is time to ECLIPSE anything that maybe holding you back.   With the Moon in Cancer during the Eclipse, in its very own archetypal sign…. emotions will be heightened… in fact if you are a sensitive person you may feel this Eclipse very very deeply indeed.  

Interesting, our Lunar Eclipse is close to the Lunar North Node at 7.43⁰ Cancer.   The North Node represents our collective ideals, our deepest desires of what we aspire to become.   This Full Moon Eclipse is guiding us to feel.  To acknowledge our humanity.  Connect emotionally with what unites us as humans… and the higher vision of what we are capable of becoming.   Healing starts at HOME.  First within our selves, our families, our communities and collectively within our global family and all sentient beings.

Be gentle with yourself this Full Moon Eclipse.  Don’t hold your feelings inside… let them flow out… feel into what is coming up for you/us.  Swimming, bathing or drinking lots of water may help you to let the feelings flow without being too narky or over-active or in over-whelm with the intensity of emotion this Full Moon Eclipse.  Nature has a way to heal, help you to surrender and be your greatest Teacher !
